Alt-Blue-Country-Grass-Neo-Folk-'n-Roll is what true Americana Roots music is all about - the blending of cross-genre musical styles having multiple points of origin and varying degrees of influence. The name is intended to poke fun at individual genre purists whose idea of musical creativity eschews anything more than than the missionary position of their chosen style.
More than the "Blues" (with all its available flavors); more than "Country" (like that hasn't changed in the last 30 years); more than Bluegrass (Bill Monroe is smiling at DAWGMASTER Grisman, Nickle Creek and Allison Krause & Co.); more than "Folk" (that 60's style anti/establishment sound that now includes contemporary singer songwriters); and more than Rock'n Roll (see Blues and R&B); it is both fresh and familiar, reflective and reactive, sanguine and silly, unique and universal.
